Overnight Retreats. Mindful hiking. Bike the Timber Trail. Team Building. Hands-on conservation.

Longer Retreats

Nestled in the Pureora Forest Park - right in the middle of nowhere - is the Timber Trail Lodge. Designed to be sustainable first, the lodge has a minimal impact on its stunning environment.

Pureora has a special place in New Zealand history as it is one of the last remaining intact podocarp forests in the world. It was one of the last native forests to be opened up for logging and in 1978 environmental protestors took to platforms in the trees to prevent further logging of native timber. The protests eventually led to the end of the logging, the forest becoming a protected area. A conservation success story, the forest is home to a range of native wildlife, including some remarkable birdlife.

The Timber trail lodge has 20 rooms, sleeping up to 45 people.

Packages

All our packages at the Timber Trail Lodge are bespoke and can include: Bush Boardroom sessions, mindful hiking, biking the whole or sections of the Timber Trail, organised team building activities, getting hands-on and involved in conservation and more.

We also offer exclusive private use of the lodge for your team of 15 or more.

Your conservation contribution

Restoring nature's balance. The Timber Trail Lodge works hard to to control introduced predators such as rats, possums and stoats to help protect our native birds and wildlife. We have established and maintain a predator trapping programme and your company's contribution will help to extend the number of trapping lines around the lodge - with the option of getting hands-on too.

Your Facilitators at Pureora

Kylie Rae

Nature & Nosh owner Kylie Rae's love for the outdoors was cemented early in life, being brought up rurally in a tramping-loving family. After a couple of years spent hiking around the world, Kylie and her husband moved back to Aotearoa and set up Nature & Nosh Tours - a tribute to the two things they love most, hiking and food!

Not content to sit a desk day after day, Kylie forged her own path, creating meaningful experiences in the space where nature, science and wellbeing meet. With over a decade of experience in business management, conference and event organising, Kylie is focussed on designing and running corporate experiences for your company like no other; with wellbeing and nature at the core.
